Just two more slabs to lay, had to increase the level of the base in this area and now allowing to set overnight, yes two more slabs and its complete. Just a thought on foundation bases for patios, some other companies, I have heard, only lay slabs on firmed soil, the problem with this is, its ok during the summer when the ground is rock solid, but come the winter rain, the soil beneath starts to get uneasy. we have had numerous schemes where so called firms have done this, and the slabs have just sunk. Making the job overall more expensive for the customer. A firm concrete base of ballast and cement, then a full bedding mix on top of that, and then the slabs will make a long lasting patio much cheaper for everyone. A few pounds more now will save many later on.

The special offer runing on my site, which is for Decking has proved to be very attractive to many of you. I have recently extended it into October, which will probably be the last time this year. I am thinking of doing the same for patios so watch this space. If you have any thoughts on this post them on here for me to read later.

Hello, watch out for the rogues in this field, some of them have certain ways of laying a patio, some do not put down a foundation base, I mean you would not build your house on soil would you, a long lasting patio is the same. We have over the years been back to places where no base has been put down, the result is, a patio that has sunk, and whats more weeds to allowed to grow through. Price is important I know, but in the long run a few extra pounds for the base will be cheaper.
