Paving and decking a garden is , and has always been, very popular. The areas of ground we allocate for this is sometimes huge. A well designed patio or deck will always be a great family affair, from the choice of colour, style and pattern. Entertaining outside has become a must for those who like to relax after a hard days work, and the weekends are for family and friends. A great time will be had by all!!

Today has been one of those everyone gets from time to time, the only good thing about it was that its friday. Nothing to do with work, patios or even decking, just one of those days.

I have just watched Cowboy Builders on Channel 5. This one the so called builder had not done all the owrk as usual and had run off with the money, not only that, with reference to my blog post regarding foundations of a patio and deck. Well this was meant ot be an extension to the house for a friend to live, who was suffering from cancer so that her children always had a place to be, after the 5 team had started digging for a soakaway they discovered no footings for the extension, the whole house was on top of brick rubble with a thin layer of concrete, all came right in the end of course. How can these people sleep at night. Especially with this poor women dying of cancer, and the friend building this home for her and her children. This is beyond words I think.

Building a Patio, or a Deck, is all the ground work. Get this right and you will have a firm and long lasting product. I have in the past come across some work done by others, where the foundation, if you can call it that, was not only soft, but almost running away. No cement in it all and sometimes just sand which is clearly not good enough. For a Patio to satnd the test of time you need a concrete base, made from ballast and cement, onto to which the bedding mix of sand and cement to lay the slabs onto. This last for years. For a Deck you need to make sure you have enough supports cemented into the ground and then fixed to the bearers. I have done this type of work for many years. Have a look on the site. Regards Peter

gardening is a past time we all enjoy, but having the time is not always available, getting the right person to work in your home and garden is very important, we have all seen rogue traders and other such programmes like that, which can be very good but it might leave a thought in ones mind to leave the work. This is why we have such things as the FSB and the like to gain some credit for people like myself who do a good job and at a great price. Leaving the others to be forced out of business. MB Gardening Landscaping have been trading now since 1995, we would not be in business if we treated our valuable customers badly. Our customer charter and terms create a proffesional approach to our clients past and present. Good landscaping comes from knowledge. Send us your work requirements without any thought of getting a rough deal, that is not in our thoughts at all!! Kind regards Peter

As the cold weather is starting to bit, now is a good time to give the garden a good clean up. Perhaps even have a Deck built for Christmas. The weather has been good at christams time over the past fews years. You can put your christmas lights on it as well.

Finished the Charing job, only two days, back to Darland to carry on. Started the edging today. This dry spell is helping. Block paving the edge of the Indian sandstone slabs, brindle pattern looks good.

Had a good day, paved with Natural Sandstone, almost done the amount, Neil and I got on to complete a fair bit, should finish the paving tomorrow if the weather holds. I like Sandstone, it looks so much better than concrete slabs, it might be a little more expensive but it will last for years, whereas concrete will fade.

Monday Morning we have to arrange topsoil and turf for the work at Darland. The client has been more than helpful. The whole garden is to be worked on. Leaving them with a delightful paved area, a lush new lawn and a brand new made to measure gate, oh and not forgetting the brick wall.

Friday the best day for everyone I know, another good day weather wise, a bit foggy, waiting for the paving slabs to turn and the skip, have to twiddle my thumbs until they do, ready too early, should slow down too quick.

At last some dry weather, Neil was able to do the brickwork today, we dug the garden over and its now ready for paving, just have to wait for them to be delivered on Friday. Hope to get the skip tomorrow. The steps are now finished, and they look great!! Natural Sandstone being used, always looks fine using this type of paving, and it will last for years.

This weather lately does slow us down, getting things done but not at our usual speed. Unaviodable delays, is one hazard gardeners come across, and the wet weather is certainly one of them. Trying to lay a patio in the rain is not a good idea, so we gave up today as it was too wet to acheive our standard of work. Need a large Gazebo to stand under while working I think, that would do the trick.

Timber Decking has been a great product so far this year, some have been really outstanding, in design and area covered. As you saw in the site we specialise in this field. But are amazed that Decking is still asked for time after time. I must admit it is great fr a growing family, kids play on this type of patio safely, it is also a softer landing. We are proud of our service in this field and continue to give pleasure to many families that have not only had us build it for them, but some have become repeat orders in other parts of their garden. For those who have, we are eternally grateful, for those who are to become customers we cant wait to build a deck for you to be proud of.

Done the work before it poured down, the patio looks great, and the customer Dave and Anne are very pleased. Later we will go back in the spring to maybe lay a new lawn for them.
