Hello to everyone in Faversham, have had a few visits from you, if you would like some work done get in touch. Day off today because of the recent snow, hope to go in tomorrow. At least to see what the garden is like. Plenty of things to do, one is to get rid of the rubbish. 2011 is not very far away, where has this year gone, mind you I say that every year. You know time goes quick when the news readers say what has happened 20 years ago and it seems like yesterday. A great site for Decking lights is Seal Designs, given to me by a customer in Gillingham, they have some great lights and very good on price too. Have a look and give me a call to install them for you.

What a shame we have just finished a lovely driveway in Lansdown Road and it snows all over it. I blame St Andrew for this, being the 30th November.

The snow thats coming our way, well thats what the weather men have said. It brings to mind that laying patios, building a Deck, or anything in the garden in fact, the cold weather should not be a problem. Cementing in this weather is different then other times of the year, when its warmer we add plasticiser to allow the mix to slow down, that is say not to set too quick. But in the cold weather we want the mix to be frost proof. So a different additive is used, called simply a Frostproof and rapid hardener, this allows the mix to speed up the setting process, ideally before the frost gets hold. The frost proofer is much like antifreeze in the water it allows the liquid to stay warmer. Be cautious on the amount used though, too much and it sets a little too quick. So what ever the weather we have got it covered!!

Driveways are a must have these days in the view of parking spaces, or the lack of them. Of course there are many companies jumping on the band wagon, saying "yes mate we can lay a new drive for you" some of them knock your door and say they can do the owrk for ex amount cash. Of course it is your choice, but a word of warning, do not pay those sort of people until they have done the work. Companies like mine always do a great job, and prefer to do a weeks work and then only ask for some funds to help the cash flow and buy materials for the next stage in the scheme. In particular those who use tarmac drives, a thin layer is no good in my book. We dont do tarmac drives as we feel a proper drive should be paved, concreted or you can have shingle with a firm base underneath. Thanks for taking the time t read this I hope this has helped you to at least give us the chance to quote you for your next project, whatever it might be. Regards Peter & Neil

Doing a Deck in the rain. Well its fun I give you that. Everything has to be cut by handsaw, a bit slow but we are taken back before the days of electric saws, just for a while anyway. The only tool that has to used is the cordless screwdriver, using a hand driver is not a good idea.

Having a driveway laid is one financial commitment that many people we have found are willing to have done. The outlay will come back in making the property more attractive to potential buyers, with the lack of parking spaces these days it is a must for some. Of course getting the right people in to do the work is also the correct thing to do. Again, without sounding our own trumpets, we have found that some foundations have not been up to scratch. Due to the amount of traffic a drive will get, its important to lay the correct base. We use a cement based screed, instead of just sharp sand firmed down. The small amount of cement in the screed will allow the whole area to become a harden base for all traffic. So please be aware of this when you are choosing someone to lay a drive for you. We feel its the correct method, and will stand the test of time. Regards Neil & Peter

Hope to start a driveway soon, we have quoted three up to now and waiting for the outcome. We have experience in the laying of drives whether it be a shingle/chipping type or block paving the most popular. Our prices are very competitive and with the expertise we have the whole driveway scheme will be one to last.

The Decking product has never been so popular, getting orders and enquiries from all over my covering areas. Some have great designs. Its a great space for all the family, children love it as it gives a safe and warm place to play. Keep the interest going, great job.
