Snowed In

Hello to everyone in Faversham, have had a few visits from you, if you would like some work done get in touch.

Day off today because of the recent snow, hope to go in tomorrow.  At least to see what the garden is like.

Plenty of things to do, one is to get rid of the rubbish.

2011 is not very far away, where has this year gone, mind you I say that every year.  You know time goes quick when the news readers say what has happened 20 years ago and it seems like yesterday.

A great site for Decking lights is Seal Designs, given to me by a customer in Gillingham, they have some great lights and very good on price too.

Have a look and give me a call to install them for you.

Driveway

What a shame we have just finished a lovely driveway in Lansdown Road and it snows all over it.  I blame St Andrew for this, being the 30th November.

Frostproofer

The snow thats coming our way, well thats what the weather men have said.

It brings to mind that laying patios, building a Deck, or anything in the garden in fact, the cold weather should not be a problem.

Cementing in this weather is different then other times of the year, when its warmer we add plasticiser to allow the mix to slow down, that is say not to set too quick.  But in the cold weather we want the mix to be frost proof.  So a different additive is used, called simply a Frostproof and rapid hardener, this allows the mix to speed up the setting process, ideally before the frost gets hold.  The frost proofer is much like antifreeze in the water it allows the liquid to stay warmer.  Be cautious on the amount used though, too much and it sets a little too quick.

So what ever the weather we have got it covered!!

Enquiry from afar

Well the name of MB Gardening Landscaping must be getting around as I have received an enquiry, from,  INDIA, asking for my services, well I am up for it, but I think my suppliers will charge too much delivery.

Fancy a holiday Neil!!

Lansdown Road

what a day!, spread another 5 tonne of chippings, installed to two gates, well almost, getting darker in the evening does not help, could not see what we were doing so had to give, going back on Monday just to finish off.  Looks great though, will take a photo on Monday.

Got an enquiry while we were there, one of the neighbours wants a fence.

Lansdown road

went really well today, spread and lifted 10 tonnes of materials, crushed roadstone and type 1.  Still only 5 tonnes tomorrow.  And cut down one of the gates to be installed.  Should be finished.   Will miss the area, many people have [assed us and said we are doing well.

Lansdown Road

The digger was taken back today, all ready now for the 7 tonnes of type one crushed rock being delivered tomorrow, plus 3 tonnes of type one roadstone, and 3 tonnes of 20mm shingle on Friday.   Happy days!!

Digger and Skip

Digger arrived so did the skip, as arranged. Got a fair bit done just wish there were more daylight hours.  Still another half day should do it.  Filled one 8yd skip another one coming tomorrow.

Digger

Made an excutive decision today to get a digger in, anything to save my back.  Watch now tomorrow the skip and the digger will both turn up at the same time. Neil had to have a tooth out today ouch!  Still if there is anything left to come I will have the digger on hand.

Driveways

Driveways are a must have these days in the view of parking spaces, or the lack of them.  Of course there are many companies jumping on the band wagon, saying "yes mate we can lay a new drive for you"   some of them knock your door and say they can do the owrk for ex amount cash.

Of course it is your choice, but a word of warning, do not pay those sort of people until they have done the work. Companies like mine always do a great job, and prefer to do a weeks work and then only ask for some funds to help the cash flow and buy materials for the next stage in the scheme.

In particular those who use tarmac drives, a thin layer is no good in my book.

We dont do tarmac drives as we feel a proper drive should be paved, concreted or you can have shingle with a firm base underneath.

Thanks for taking the time t read this I hope this has helped you to at least give us the chance to quote you for your next project, whatever it might be.

Regards Peter  & Neil

Next Year

A good day today, cold though outside. Looking forward to the New Year.  It will be good for the country the wedding of William and Kate.  It will give it a much needed boost.

Lansdown

fence is done now, just the final cutting to be carried, and one more board to fix.  Starting on the drive on Monday.

Fence

Had a really productive day today, got the fence almost done just a small amount to do now, then its onto the driveway.  a little tricky in one of the corners as there was a lot of growth to cut back. But all went well in the end got the fence line done.

Baby

Hi I just want to say that my daughter Sami has given birth to a boy 7 Pounds 7 Ozs  she is calling him Brandon.  Well done girl!!

Fencing

What a great day, weather has been good and cut down the trees, hoping to get the rest of the posts done by thursday.

Fencing

Had an interesting Day today putting up a fence in Chatham.  Close Boarded type 6ft high and about 130 feet long.  Had to wait for materials but generally interesting.

Family

what it is to have family over for dinner, and a sleep before and afterwards   Bless!!

Gravesend Deck

All done at Gravesend, it was raining so hard when we finished i was unable to take a picture, still there be other times.    The Decking worked well!!.  The customer was very pleased.

Well Done Neil, my right hand man!!

Rained off

Rained off today, so in the office dealing with orders coming up.  A drive and a new fence order is the next one to do so getting ready for that.

Gravesend Deck

What a difference a day makes.  Its great when the sun is out you can get things done, the deck is almost finished at Gravesend.. Just the handrails and spindles to do.

Decking

got a little more of the deck done today just before the rain came again. Still trhere is talk of a fine day tomorrow.  Lets hope so.

Deck in the Rain

Doing a Deck in the rain. Well its fun I give you that.  Everything has to be cut by handsaw, a bit slow but we are taken back before the days of electric saws, just for a while anyway.  The only tool that has to used is the cordless screwdriver, using a hand driver is not a good idea.

Driveways

Having a driveway laid is one financial commitment that many people we have found are willing to have done.  The outlay will come back in making the property more attractive to potential buyers, with the lack of parking spaces these days it is a must for some.

Of course getting the right people in to do the work is also the correct thing to do.

Again, without sounding our own trumpets, we have found that some foundations have not been up to scratch.   Due to the amount of traffic a drive will get, its important to lay the correct base.

We use a cement based screed, instead of just sharp sand firmed down.  The small amount of cement in the screed will allow the whole area to become a harden base for all traffic.

So please be aware of this when you are choosing someone to lay a drive for you.  We feel its the correct method, and will stand the test of time.

Regards  Neil & Peter

Drives

Hope to start a driveway soon, we have quoted three up to now and waiting for the outcome.  We have experience in the laying of drives whether it be a shingle/chipping type or block paving the most popular.  Our prices are very competitive and with the expertise we have the whole driveway scheme will be one to last.

A job well done

All done at Twydall, the Deck looks fine this was sent to me from the client.

 Hi Peter,

Just thought to would be a good idea to send you some pics of the decking at night to see the full effect.
once again on behalf of my wife and myself thankyou for such a great job and youve got the kids seal of approval too,
they love it.
Regards Steve.

Watch the site for the latest photos, including one of the night shots taken by the customer.

Decking

The Decking product has never been so popular, getting orders and enquiries from all over my covering areas. Some have great designs.

Its a great space for all the family, children love it as it gives a safe and warm place to play.

Keep the interest going, great job.

Old Friends

the deck at twydall is going good, saw many of my old pals who were my neighbours long time ago.  Sad to see one them, time has caught up with them, suppose it will all of us at some point.

Still put the deck lights in and all working!!

Twydall Deck

Went to start a Deck today right near to where I used to live back in the ninties.  Twydall in Gillingham.  The Deck is a complex one with lots of angles, also lighting and steps.

Will look great when its done, watch out for the picture on the site.
