February 2011

Decking

We all crave for the summer weather, after all it has been a long winter this time.  What we are about to see are the new shoots of srping creeping up on us.

A new Driveway, Patio,Deck, makes the garden look so much better if done well.

We have over the years been to a number of gardens that have had, shall we say, a less than normal way of building all three, and having paid a silly amount, we find ourseleves having to pay again to get it put right, most of the time starting from the beginning.

A Deck for instance must be supported,  the bearers must be off the ground, and either bolts or long fixings to hold the whole frame together.

We had an occasion to rebuild a deck, which was put together with nails and more nails, the deck boards were nailed down as well,  nails do not hold them in place at all, they have to be fixed with at least 60mm screws I feel.

Well because the deck boards were nailed into place they were very difficult to lift in one piece, so had to buy more boards to replace them,  tehy had so many spilts in them where the nails had gone in too far and the head of the nail had damaged to timber.  All in all the customer had to buy almost two thirds of the deck for us to build.

A costly mistake by who ever built it in the first place.

31 Quotes

Hi everyone, getting on well at the moment, I have quoted 31 jobs now, I am really hoping they do not call all at once.

A mixture of schemes, Patios, Decking, Fences, Brickwork, Water Features, Gates, and one for Astro Turf.

Lets hope we hear soon!!

Booking work

On a lighter note, I am taking on more work for the coming months, so if you are looking for a new garden this year, then give us a call.

See the home page www.mbgarden.co.uk   or email me peter@mbgarden.co.uk  to find ut how we can change your garden forever.

Regards to you all     Peter

Payment 3

D Day tomorrow I am afraid. Sittingbourne you have had long enough now, and after numerous broken promises, I think your time is up.  We have done the work and we would like to get paid as promised.

Hate doing this, no really, but you do not go into a sweet shop, or any shop for that matter, without the thought of paying for what you want.

A debt collection firm is the only option now, after three weeks of hell trying to get my money owed. Time has run out!!

Payment part two

Well another week has nearly passed and I am still waiting for the balance of the Sittingbourne job, I do know how much more time I can give.  There is suppose to be a cheque in the post to me, and I can hear myself saying "lets hope so" ....again.

Legal terms are not my way at all but needs must I think!

Payments

Payments are the life line of any business, whether its money coming in or paying the bills.  I have always liked to be on time.  Just recently I have done a garden in Sittingbourne for a client who was to say the least rather slow in paying.  The outcome has still to be resolved, I have been nothing but friendly as my terms and conditions state that weekly payments are required and the balance on the last of working. Well its been nearly two weeks since I finished the work and am still waiting for the balance.

I am not in the habit of treating people like this and have been very friendly and given quite a few chances for the payment to be sent.

Needs must I think.

Rest assured the last resort will be courts I suppose, I hate all this.  We do a "great job" their words not mine, and this is how we are treated.

Please do not take this to mind this is very unusual for MB Gardening Landscaping, extremely unusual.

We have always and will continue to be proud of our service and friendly approach to all customers, new and old.

Its just sometimes you get this sort of thing, but as said it is extremely rare for us.

Sealing

Well its Sunday night again, they do come round quick.  Looking forward to next week will be getting all done.

Indian Sandstone does look great,  this type of stone can take a good scrub as well to keep it clean.  Sealing them can maintain the wet look, that brings the colour tints out.

Visit my site to have a look at some work.  See you soon!!

Quotations

I have up to now quoted many customers, this year I have done 18 quotes, I do hope they dont come all at once.   I feel I have given a good price for the work,  leys hope they dont come all at once.

Astro Turf a lush green lawn

Laying a new lawn gives the garden instant colour, imagine having that colour all year round, never having to lift a finger to acheive it nither.

Well you can, let us install astro turf for you, it can work out cheaper in the long run, no lawm mower to purchase and maintain, no lawn feed, nolawn moss killer, no lawn weed killer, just a safe play area for everyone with no chemicals to worry for your pets.

Just a lush green lawn to lounge around on, play footy on, just have fun.

Give it some though,  astro turf allows water to pass through it so it will never get waterlogged.

See you soon!!

Wet Days

There comes a time where you just have to call it a day, like today for instance, its pouring down, and no matter how hard you try, the elemnets are just too wet.   In fact the more you try to lay a slab, the more it wants to move on its own.  Give up and go home is the best option.

Dedication is one thing, being silly is another.

Try again tomorrow!!

Days off

Why is it that everytime we have a rest we feel worse than we did before, anyone else like that.  This is why I like to work.   No one to answer to, no one to clock on for, go home when you ready and done.

Some days are like that not all of them though, it can be very stressful, especially at the end.

Day off

What a dull day it is, its going to be dark early I think, a bit bored at the moment so I thought I would do some blogging.

Its Feb 5th where did January go, all ready for the 14th are we.   I dont want much haha!

Very windy out as well, I might get some fencing work you never know.   I like doing the close boarded type best, it is so easy and much stronger, especially on a day like today.

Bye for now all!!

AV

Another base, another garden, there is no end.  Foundations are the key to a permament patio, a firm concrete base is the only way.   Any other base we feel will give way to sinking at a later stage.    Indian Sandstone is being used, uncalibrated type, Raj Green in four sizes,  a pleasing pattern.  This type of stone is very heavy and nneds a good foundation base.

These is paving that you bed them upside down, in other words the "V" shape you get from concrete paving, which is what you grout, is laid like an "A" shape.  This is because they are dressed that way from the suppliers abroad.

Great times!!

Spring time 2011

Whenever the sun shines it all makes the work in the garden worthwhile.  Spring is not very far away and I, like most of us, like to see the first buds appear.   Getting the work done in the garden of course is another matter.  With many of us having busy lives, we dont get the time to acheive what we want to do with the plot of land we have.

As mentioned in the site, a family patio or deck does take a lot of time and effort to get it right.

Look forward to hearing from soon, where we will go through what you have in mind and leave the rest to us.

Astro Turf

Things are looking good to date this blog has generated 1845 comments.  Thank you one and all.

Cant believe its February already, spring just around the corner, the gardens are starting to wake up.

Two products I am keen to get started are Driveways and Astro Turf, these two products are very similar, in as much they both have the same base materials, type 1 or crushed concrete, both have a sharp sand screed.    Astro turf is more expensive then the real thing, but, no cutting, no mess, pets cant destroy it, stays green all year, and is warmer than grass.

Why not give it a go this year.   See you, oh and dont forget to have your driveway done as well!!
