Rust Stain on your patio

Here is another great tip for cleaning your patio this time.  This was given, and I saw the results by one of my customers recently.

If you have the metal type of table and chairs,  the iron ones, and the weather has left a rust stain on your patio, then this does work.

A plastic bottle of Household Ammonia, this is not bleach,  will lift the stain right off.  Used neat on the stain and rub the slabs gently to remove the rust stain.  Then leave to dry and rinse off.

Homemade Deck Cleaner

A Deck is a great feature in the garden, from time to time it needs a bit of TLC, about once every two to three years it needs a good clean to take off all the old stain, dust and grime, like all things in the garden get.

Before you go rushing to the local DIY store to buy the deck cleaner give this a try.

Pour one gallon of clean water into a clean bucket, add one eighth of a gallon of household bleach, the cheap one is fine, then add one quarter of a cup full of washing up liquid again the cheap one is fine, and mix together.   The bleach will clean the boards and the washing up liqiud will tackle the dirt.

This is the hard bit, use a scrubbing brush or a hard broom, the brush is better, and firmly scrub the boards to remove the dirt.  Its only once every two to three years so no hardship.  Wash off with clean water every fourth board to stop it drying out.  If you do allow the boards to dry before the washing off then you might have to scrub them lightly again as the dirt will solidify on top.

This does work and is a lot cheaper than the DIY store cleaner, which in my view does not work as good as the can says it should.

Happy cleaning, then allow to dry and coat again with you favorite stain colour.

Allotment

Another great day, helped daughter and son in law Dave and Hayley on their allotment.  Made two raised beds out of gravel boards, and help them rig up the poles for the runner beans.   All we need to do now is wait for the produce to grow.   Lovely!!

Wall

what a hot day, Good Friday has been very productive at home, have painted some garden furniture, and built a single block wall on my driveway.  A delivery person very kindly knock the old one down while he was reversing.  Had been meaning to do it for a while finally got round to building it, going to paint it white so that everyone can see it. So no excuse in knocking this one down even at night.  Hope you all are having a nice quiet relaxing time off work.

Easter

Not a bad day, weather has been great, the cement was going off too quick.  Neil had laid a concrete path and it was dry at the end of the day.   Keep watering the garden, especially those new lawns.

Happy Easter to all Chocoholics !!

New Lawn

At this time of year some of us maybe thinking to having a lawn laid, great news it is one of the best times to have it done.  In the past few years April has been one of the warmest months and this year so far is the same, so go ahead and have your lawn laid.  But the most important thing is never ever let it dry out,  an example of what might happen is at the top of Ash Tree Lane in Chatham, they have been building some new homes, and the grass verge opposite the entrance to the area there is some grass, recently laid, which has not had the rain or has been watered,  the result, well seeing is believing it has curled up, the gaps between each piece of turf is now so big, and its gone brown.

We spend a lot of cash for having a nice new lawn laid perfectly, only to let it do this, waste of money!!   So please if you have a lawn laid please remember it is a new plant and water it, water it, water it!!!

Planning

Saw a lovely garden scheme today, you know when you see the good ones, some ideas work some do not, this one did.

It was planned out, and much thought went into the scheme, even down to the flower beds.

A summerhouse/shed is also planned for this one, not by us I hasten to add, its far cheaper to get the shed companies to make and build one for you.   We can do the bases though.

Quality

Hello we all want a little quality, whether its time or some material thing.  But as we know it does come at a price.  But you know its best in the long run.

We had some one install our double glazed windows after we had moved in, the whole house needed doing up so we started with the windows,  we had a budget in mind and got some quotes, they were all around the same, this one was a little cheaper, so we sat down look at what else we had to do with the house and made a decision to go with the cheaper one.  Jack the lad with a lorry.   Well after about 6 years, and many times getting him back and in fact to change one of the sections under the 10 year policy given to us.

My point is that quality does come at a price.  In the long run it makes a easier life and stress free, relax in your garden.

This is a true story.   I wish I could name and shame.

Happy Days !!

Feature

another great day, the deck at Holborough is going well, starting the water feature tomorrow, which is going to flow along side the deck.  Have put some lights in the deck, the flush ones, these are the customers lights they got from a local DIY store, and they have four colours in the LEDs and they change about every three seconds, they look great even in the shade.  This weather is helping us along nicely, of course it will not last, thats the UK weather for you.  Lets hope so though!!

Nearly There

Got on really well with the Holborough Deck today, all the frame is done, gate cut down, and the water feature is ready to go, just needs connecting up.  All three of the raised flower beds are painted, needs a second coat.  Looking good, customer is pleased which is the main thing.

Holborough Deck

Creating a unique decking area at the moment in Holborough.  It consists of three decks, one is from the house, the other is down the pathway, and third is the unique one, this is a sunken deck and its to have a water feature installed.  The feature is an "L" shape, 400mm wide by overall length of 3.6m at the corner the customers feature will be three stainless tubes each with water coming out of the top of them and running down into the main shape.

Three raised flower beds are constructed from concrete blocks, this is what the customer wanted, and these are painted white.

Lights will be installed into the deck and around the garden.

Its only a very small garden so space is a little tight when working but I believe the end product will be worth the wait.
