It did turn out to be as peaceful as it was earlier, in fact a lovely day, although rained a bit, but all in all a fine day. Sent off two quotes via email and got one to post. Looking ahead for tomorrow will lay the bricks and the base I hope, cant see why not.
Using Rutland Oakham Packs in Autumn Blend so will look good when done, watch out for pictures on the site.

Good morning one and all, lovely day starting, no jobs to visit today so a peaceful morning is in order, just the church bell ringing and the local chickens crowing, no really, one of my neighbours have got some and they crow for about an hour, gives it a country feel, just got to see Mr Fox, and Mrs Squirrel and the days complete. We have these animals come and visit most mornings at the moment its funny that the fox does not worry about the chickens perhaps its not hungry enough. The squirrel comes onto our deck goes across the handrail and off into next door, then later it comes back again.
All the clouds are fluffy and everything is right in the world of MB Garden, watch someone come and destroy it all.

Good day today went down to Sittingbourne to see a job, this one is very easy a patio and a fence, and perhaps further paving of the garden, two brick built flower beds on either side of the plot complete with a small retaining wall with steps up to the slightly higher area. Very simple and easy.

Once again "Jack the lad" rears his ugly head again, was speaking to the customer in Gillingham recently, the patio that was small but perfectly formed, yes that one, the lady was saying that she got someone from "The Net " magazine who was from Rainham Kent, now the back of the job was to lift the old concrete and lay a new base, then lay the slabs onto a bedding mix to get back to the correct height for tyhe damp course.
Well "jack" was not only going to lay the slabs on top of the existing base, thus making the paving above the damp course, he also said that people do not worry about damp courses these days and he would put some shingle in the gap he was going to leave next to the house.
But he is the worse bit, if what he was going to do was not bad enough, he was going to charge the lady £700 for doing it and the lady had to buy the slabs herself and if there was any rubbish over she had to get rid of that too. So he was charging about 350 per day, nice if you can get it but at least do some work for that sort of money.
My price was £765.00 for a new base, slabs and taking the old concrete away.
I am sorry but where do these people come from, so if you have "The Net" put through your door, which I might add it is nothing to do with the magazine and those who are involved in the production of "The Net" watch out for this person in rainham,.

All done at Gillingham a small patio but perfectly formed. Got to give the lady a price for the pathway now to match. Should be good when done.
Going to Walderslade tomorrow to lay another small patio, then up to sidcup the recommendatory job also already got two extras to quote for before we start. Great News!

I am not going to complain about the hot weather oh no, but, I must admit it was hot today, the cement base we put down was almost set before we went home. Should be fine tomorrow. A small patio in gillingham is what we are doing at the moment, then onto walderslade, then we are back up sidcup again, this time its the neighbour of the one we did a while ago, must be doing something right.

well another week has passed, looks like the weather is going to plan, been to some step work, no not the group, but concrete and wooden steps to be done in cuxton.
A beautiful setting when its done. Just had a nice cup of coffee to start the morning, and its so peaceful here at the moment, I am though waiting for that to go as the afternoon draws closer.
Some of the gardens we have done this year have been so delightful in their setting, especially the in shorne, lovely area .
Still you cut your cloth in life and have to live.

Today has the been the usual been shopping, done quotes and bought some tools for work.
Fencing enquiries are on the up though. Have a nice feeling about this week coming the sun is going to play its part so hope to hear from you all.
Wondering if decking and patios are going to be the most asked for product this year as last season.
Specialising in these two items gives us an edge I believe.

I have leant today of someone starting up or at least doing some work, this is not meant to be sour grapes or anything malicious, but, this man used to work for me and his work to say the least was rather poor, once I knew that I immediately got rid.
Going back to a previous blog, about "jack the lad and his lorry" I feel for people that get him to do any work, I really wish I could name and shame, but I will say he is local to Medway towns, lives in Rainham, and has a white car. Thats all I can say, other than be careful you will get burnt.

Well started the fence at Gillingham, took a while to get the materials to the garden as it was a walk. The we had to drill out the first three posts, but tomorrow the ground is softer so easier day.

Going to see a job in Sheerness today, might take a bucket and spade, not for the beach but to dig my out in case it rains.
This is another bespoke scheme and from what I have seen so far is a very interesting one. Lots of ideas to fit in.
Budgeting of course is important so that your dream garden can be built. In some cases its always a good idea to set aside an amount of money.

I seemed to be working seven days a week at the moment, 5 days physically and two days paperwork, will it never end, need a break or some help either will do.
When computers came out many years ago I was one that thought the paperwork would get smaller, how wrong was I.
Mind you emailing the quotes saves a lot of time.

Sunday dinner done and now trying to rest before the week ahead, watching the tennis. Hope to get some paperwork done as well but the weekends seem to fly past as does the weeks.
Patios and decking is what we have done more and more this year, closely followed by fencing.
It does help when you have someone who knows how the plan and get things done.

Today has been the usual, shopping and seeing a garden to quote, this one is in Meopham, a large area to lay a new lawn and the rear garden is to be tiered in two sections.
This one came via Facebook so that was good, just the price to work out.
Work is starting to come in again, after the sidcup job is finished we are probably in Gillingham, so not so much travelling. Watch out for pictures of the deck and fence in sidcup.
One thing I must try to do is to catch up on the paperwork, I started the year in doing them one a month, but like most new year resolutions they start to fade about two months in.

Decking lights are an attractive way of making the whole structure that bit more outstanding. They not only allow you to use the deck into the night, they also let you know where the edge is for instance, especially if you have full steps.
One warning though it is best to have installed at the same time as the deck is being built. If the lighting are the flush mounted sort then this is important to do as its being constructed. The standing ones are not so important.
I stress the flush ones because these are the most popular, imaging taking up the deck boards and then installing the lights, then relaying the deck boards, although this can be done, its a costly way of installing the lights.
So, take it from us have them done at the same time, its cheaper.

Had a good day today started the fence at sidcup, we have been waiting for the electrician to put in the wiring for the decking lights, its the low voltage ones so we can install those.
The deck is nearly finished, such a large area, 11.5 long x 6.1m wide, 120 deck boards, and over 3500 screws.
Weather has not been too bad either.

Well where did the morning go, or the weekend come to that, back to work tomorrow. Saw a job today in Walderslade, nice lady wants some paving done in her front garden, she did have someone to do it for her but when they turned up they said that they had a bigger job to do and left, not the way to treat customers, still on a plus note and every cloud, I can do it cheaper for her, so whoever you were, your lost.

Sunday morning, and the weather is OK, seeing two more jobs today, local so not too much travelling, a patio and some trellis work.
The final of the euro football today, pity that England is not in it, I reckon Italy will win, good win for Murrey in the tennis.
Going back to sidcup tomorrow to finish laying the deck boards, then on tuesday hopefully the fence materials will turn up.
See you all soon!!
