Finished the bespoke pergola in Shorne see the new page on the site, its the picture with the chairs, all hand made and screwed into place. Customer is very pleased with it, and the whole structure is very stable. Bracing is a must for the stability of pergolas.
We done the whole garden early this year so it was good to be back there once more. Visit my new page and see what we can do for you.

Today was a part office day, the time flew just as quick if not quicker, always does though right!
If anyone is reading this for the first time browse through the site and my blog, I hope you like what you read and see.
Now you might call this a busman's holiday for the sake of our younger viewers, a busman's holiday is one that you basically do the job on holiday as you do in your working life, for instance I have a garden that needs to be landscaped, but am too busy doing the work I love and don't have time to do my plot.
Not that its in a mess far from that, its just a blank canvas, soil to you and me, no weeds in fact no growth at all thanks to my lovely Joanne who keeps it under control. I am designing something and hope that I can do the work very soon. Of course it will have a deck, patio and some raised beds, also a pergola. Just got to get the time to do it, but of course I would still rather work. I might have to get one of those TV programmes to come and do it for me, I can supervise!!
See you all soon!!

Aww another bank holiday, the problem is when you are self employed you dont get paid, still my choice and its nice to have a day off once in a while. Hope you are all enjoying your gardens what ever the weather.
In a previous blog I said about a special offer coming up in the autumn, I am working on the best way of creating it without it sounding too "tacky" if you now what I mean. Its on the lines of the buy one get one free system, but I need to set things up perfectly for everyone concerned. Keep an eye.
Meanwhile whatever the weather keep us in mind for next project.

The server was down a fair bit of this weekend so was not been able to write. The week ahead is going to be small jobs only, so a bit of everything, brickwork, decking, and a pergola.
Today Sunday has been very quite, like Sundays should be. Watched a DVD and just had a rest.
The bespoke pergola we are to build is in Shorne, its the job we done a while back, the one with two circle patio and many slabs some 450, we are back to build this structure over the small circle patio. So thats good to be back there again.

Started the Gillingham job, sooner than we thought but the customer is pleased to see us. We had to paint some outbuilding before we construct the decking wanted. We are using Dulux Weathershield I always think its better to get a good quality paint in what ever I do, it maybe sometimes a few pounds more, but I have always thought that the paint would last longer, time will tell I suppose.
Hope to hear back from Sidcup real soon, also phase two of another scheme we did last year.
We have a pergola in shorne to build soon so thats good. Its a Bespoke one, all hand made.
See you all soon!!

Today was very taxing, what turned into a nice little job, turned out to be the complete opposite. I believe we will still do it, but not yet.
The area of garden to be done was in the front, never mind hope to be back there soon.
The days are now getting a little shorter and the kids will go back to school real soon, we have a job to do in Gillingham for the rest of the week so not to far to travel for a while. A small deck, some painting, a new small window.
See you all soon!!

We had an early day finish today, we were going to build a brick wall, but were told to hold fire until the neighbour has sorted out the issue they have with our customer. Happy Days!!
The height of a wall in the front garden must not exceed 1 meter, its to do with the eye view of oncoming traffic when you are driving out of your drive, that's the height we were going to do, as we knew the legal height. You can go higher must you must get planning permission to do so, but most people do not want to higher in any case, the height of it is not the problem I think.
So we will have to wait until the problem between the two powers has been resolved.
Meanwhile we are to start a new scheme in Gillingham.
See you all soon!!

As discussed the other day on here, a lady in sheerness had some decking done and the firm has nailed the deck boards down, I have been trying to think of a way to lift the boards without damaging them, simple you might think, but I believe in practice they will not survive, considering he has used a nail gun with ring shank nails. An expensive option this turned out to be. The boards need to be lifted to get a weed membrane put down under them which this firm failed to do. Very difficult to now get this membrane into place without lifting the boards. Nailing them into place has resulted in some of them splitting.
So the sake of £25 tops, that's what the WM would have cost, its going to cost more in materials to fix this.
I will let you draw your own conclusions

Oh dear in sheerness, now don't get me wrong but this happens time after time again, the words so and told do come to mind. And I am not blowing my trumpet but it does make me mad when I here things like this, and I have gone through all this in previous blogs.
The story begins earlier this year, went to sheerness to quote for a garden scheme, the whole garden in fact, not a large plot but big enough, got there a little early as I always try to do, hate being late, saw a chap come out of the house I was to visit, so I thought ok up against another firm, no problem I thought, any way lost the quote by about £150 pounds ish.
According to the lady of the house. And I quote.
He done the work and I got on with jobs in hand. Then, I get a phone call from the lady to say that the chap who did the work has made a mess of the area, sand left on the drive, and some other points in the scheme are either not finished right or left out, the worst is that he has nailed the deck boards into place with out, and he stated that the lady did not need one, he has nailed the boards into place without a weed membrane under the frame and weeds are coming through the deck already, very unprofessional indeed. And to say that there was no need for one just proves the idiot did not know what he was doing. Let alone what ever else he has done wrong.
The problem I might have is to get the boards up in one piece, especially if he has used a nail gun, usually they use ring shank nails which are difficult to get out, the boards need to be lifted because the need to place a weed membrane down.
Going soon to see the work for myself.
See you all soon!!

This week is office bound and some days out, a sort of holiday I suppose, done some paperwork at last, never get the time do this so the week will help me to catch up. I am thinking of the next two months, September looks ok now but in October I am going to do a special again like last year so keep an eye for this.
Its my granddaughters birthday coming up Sian is sweet sixteen in September and Amber is a big girl 5.
Amber is going to St Andrews in Rochester and looks so cute in her uniform, her straw hat looks very good.
On TV they are talking about the Olympics finishing and how it has left us feeling a little blue, I know what they mean its like New years day that feeling you get when all the excitement has gone, still the paralympics are coming soon so that will get us back into the mood again.
Meanwhile look out in October for the special.

Saturday afternoon is deadly for me after a week of getting up early, like most of us, it catches up I only have to sit down for a couple of minutes and I find myself nodding off, terrible.
Still feel better for it. How many of you do the same I wonder.

This past week was rather interesting in so many ways, not only creating a brick built fence, complete with pier caps and coping's, using close boarded fence panels. It is not a usual way of building a fence but its very attractive. Fences can be a bit mundane, looking like your neighbours or the one down the road but this will look when finished an attractive area of the garden.

We have had a good day today, well at least I have, Neil has been building the wall and its all done, just got the piers to do which is about 150 bricks, so more labouring for me tomorrow.
Still waiting on the rest of the scheme to be sorted and then hopefully be full steam ahead.
Its been an interesting year so far, lots of enquiries, and some have become orders, thank you all for those, I love the work that we produce and from the feedback we get so do our customers. The latest thought to come out of all the work we have done is that we get the work done to every ones joy.
There is also nothing quite like watching the children take hold of the garden and play, just play and play safe.
Hope to

Got some more of the wall done today, nearly finished it, well Neil has he is the bricklayer, customer is pleased, just got the pillars to do , coping's and pier caps, the we will leave it for a week to harden off before we put the fence panels in between the pillars.
Have a got a week off this week coming, hope the weather holds. Must get some paperwork done though.
Waiting for the OK to start phase two of a scheme we did last year.
Would be good to do some decking again soon, my favourite job next to laying slabs.

Today has been a good day, for me not a very busy one, brickwork is being done so all I have to do is keep the cement coming , did some shredding of the trees that were cut down so not too lazy. The wall is looking good having to use old footings though so the line is about right.
Some pillars to create for the fence panels, these will act as posts for the panels.
Another day tomorrow so

This week coming is the start of another brick walling, and then after that the rear garden of the same house in Sidcup. Getting a lot of work in sidcup lately, its a great place and easy to get to.
Its in the low emission zone which means using local people but thats fine as I do like to get the materials as local as I can.
The area is so clean and tidy. A great place to live I think.
Great news on the bike situation hopefully we have found one will keep you posted.

We are getting our fair share of bad weather at the moment, but it has not stopped the British people getting in touch to have some landscaping work done. Whatever the weather the true grit of the British comes through, determined to have that BBQ and live some time in the garden.
We have had to do some work under two waterproof Gazebos to get the work finished so whatever the weather let us create your garden for you, give the specialist at Medway Bespoke (MB) Garden Landscaping a call today.

Friday the best day of the week, been to sidcup today laid the footings ready for the brickwork on Monday. Lovely day up there rained a bit but all good. Very clean area. Working for a man that used to build cars back in the days when they were hand built. He has an old Saab and its very good condition. Wooden dashboard and leather seats beautiful.
Using yellow stock bricks to build the wall to give it that old look, complete with pier caps and coping's.
