Have just created a page on facebook, with the ME Community, its an area community page with people reminding us all of the old times in Medway, some of the pictures I have seen on there are eyeopening.
There was one, it was of the grass area near the chatham town hall, the one thats on the edge of the new bus depot and opposite shopping center, it was known and still is I guess, as the Paddock there used to be a restaurant on there called The Paddock Cafe. No wonder, this picture was in the early years and it had Sheep grazing on the grass, looked really odd, but now I know why it is called the paddock. Think of it now can you imagine sheep grazing there today.

But a drink first I think. Have to get some quotes done by Tuesday. Have also got to ring a customer today as some point. This must be boring to read but it helps me to remember what I have got to do sorry.
Hope you are having a nice bank holiday weekend

Went to Crayford today, to see a job to quote for, this one has been started by the customer and wants us to finish it. Its for Brick work, Fencing, astro turf, blockwork and rendering. Its quite a large plot some 80 sq m. It is to include a brick built "BAR" not sure where the optics are going to be. Another one to quote for is a deck which is in a low void, complete with steps leading down to it. Went to see my Granddaughter and Daughter this afernoon so that was good. I was thinking the other day whilst driving around, we still see the damage done by the storm we had in Oct 1987, old trees that are just laying around, stumps that have not grown back, I remember that day as most of us do, we could not get to work and was given time off as the offices were damaged, I went out to hempstead shopping centre only to find the whole of the front section where the main eating area is, just all blown in, there was glass shattered everywhere, the place was open I think in other areas but the glass front had gone. On the way there you could see the damage that the storm had done. Still today you see Avenues that should have trees, they are bare or at least small saplings growing up. A terrible night, we had a cat and she must have known something was about to happen because she would not go out as usual, next morning we found some little presents in the form of three kittens, I forgot to mentioned she was expecting, had she gone out who knows what might have happened to them. The house I was in did manage to escape by only having a ridge tile lost, so I was pleased with that but some had whole roofs blown off in other areas. I hope we dont have another one, mind you it did help the fencing industry, they could not make them quick enough. See you all soon!!

This is the last dayof my little imposed holiday, glad to be getting back on Monday, the snow has almost gone and from what the weather men are saying should be gone over the weekend. The scheme in Gillingham is the whole garden to be paved, so should be good when finished. Been to see a scheme in Rochester today, its a continuation of work we did last year, some extra jobs to be done elsewhere in the rear garden, always great when you get repeat work. Also seeing three jobs over the weekend so getting busy, all of them in strood which is good not too much travelling. Hope you all well. See you all soon!!

Got the old quarry tiles off the porch outside today, did not take as long as I thought it is going too, the concrete base under them is sound and flat, so putting down the granite 3 x 3cm slabs should be ok. The only problem I can see is that the bedding height will be very small, so I am thinking of using my special brew of neat cement and a pva glue, and some water to mix the two together. Two settings agents should do the trick. I mix it to a creamy paste and bed the tiles on that. Hope we have a good day, looking forward to getting back to work next week as this week is a write off weather wise. See you all soon!!

Office bound this week I think unless the weather changes, its too cold to do pointing, not for me you understand, its the mixture. Gives me time to sort a few things, ready for the busy times. Waiting for the suppliers to come back to me about an ongoing item. Hope to hear from them soon!! Still I have my porch to pave so might do that, no pointing on these as I will butt them together. See you all soon!!

Today is quite, the weather has been horrible, and I have drank more than my fair share of coffee, so must try to relax a bit now, bit hard with all that coffee. What sort of day have you had? Waiting for the ok from a couple of quotes, and finishing off one more quote for a scheme in Chatham, so nice and local. The whole garden is to be paved using the Oakham Pattern as said in a previous blog post. Sorted the skips, done the price just got to type it out and send via email to the customer. Access is good for this one, makes all the difference to the price. Hope to get this one. Had a phone call from the man in Sidcup who wants us to buikld a fence in his front garden, like the one ion the rear plot we did for him, but he has just got to sort the legal height out which is 1m in my book, but this one is different so it might be higher, leading down to 1m. So we mau be travelling up there in the next couple of weeks. See you all soon!!

Today was busy, went to the shops as usual, went for an eye test, no more glasses needed which is good as the ones I have are ok.
I am always, though tripping over brick lines and pegs, that Neil installs, so he will be overjoyed to know I will still do that with these lenses.
Still saved a bit of cash, looking ahead to Monday.

Today is a fine day for me, done some christmas shopping, I know its early but it will soon be here, getting prepared. A quote to do for some astro turf and then watch some TV. Got a dehumidifier today because we get some condensation in the hallway during the cold weather, not used one before so we will see if they work or not. Next week we start a small fencing job in Wouldham, three gates to install also, and some concreting, the weather men are saying we are to get a touch of warm weather soon, lets hope so. The weather today does not know what to do, very cloudy, looks like rain, but it is mild. The time has flown by again this week. My Granddaughter Amber is a big girl 5 next Saturday so got some presents for her today. Hope she likes them. So all is quiet in the household at the moment, so a nice relaxing afternoon is in order. See you all soon!!

another weekend gone, this week is going to be a task, have a small job tomorrow monday, and then some paperwork to catch up on, quotes to do and possibly a small fence to do at the end of the week. Just come in this one. Its so small that I will do it before the lorry turns up.
Neil is in Essex working on a fence for four days, so all by myself this week except on Monday. So if you read this quick enough and need some work quoted for this week is one of the best times to ring.

Today was a part office day, the time flew just as quick if not quicker, always does though right!
If anyone is reading this for the first time browse through the site and my blog, I hope you like what you read and see.
Now you might call this a busman's holiday for the sake of our younger viewers, a busman's holiday is one that you basically do the job on holiday as you do in your working life, for instance I have a garden that needs to be landscaped, but am too busy doing the work I love and don't have time to do my plot.
Not that its in a mess far from that, its just a blank canvas, soil to you and me, no weeds in fact no growth at all thanks to my lovely Joanne who keeps it under control. I am designing something and hope that I can do the work very soon. Of course it will have a deck, patio and some raised beds, also a pergola. Just got to get the time to do it, but of course I would still rather work. I might have to get one of those TV programmes to come and do it for me, I can supervise!!
See you all soon!!

This week is office bound and some days out, a sort of holiday I suppose, done some paperwork at last, never get the time do this so the week will help me to catch up. I am thinking of the next two months, September looks ok now but in October I am going to do a special again like last year so keep an eye for this.
Its my granddaughters birthday coming up Sian is sweet sixteen in September and Amber is a big girl 5.
Amber is going to St Andrews in Rochester and looks so cute in her uniform, her straw hat looks very good.
On TV they are talking about the Olympics finishing and how it has left us feeling a little blue, I know what they mean its like New years day that feeling you get when all the excitement has gone, still the paralympics are coming soon so that will get us back into the mood again.
Meanwhile look out in October for the special.
See you all soon!!

This week coming is the start of another brick walling, and then after that the rear garden of the same house in Sidcup. Getting a lot of work in sidcup lately, its a great place and easy to get to.
Its in the low emission zone which means using local people but thats fine as I do like to get the materials as local as I can.
The area is so clean and tidy. A great place to live I think.
Great news on the bike situation hopefully we have found one will keep you posted.

Today is one of those days when I am not sure what to do, a bit bored I suppose, sorted the garage out, have put some items into the plastic containers I bought a few weeks ago. The idea is that when we do decking, take this container full of screw boxes and so on. Its neater and should make me not forget anything, I hear Neil going, yeah right wonder how long that will last. I am one of those people I have write things down, else I forget, always been like that. Years ago on a TV shopping channel there was this memory course, so I thought lets give it a go, so I did. It taught you to remember things in a picture, like if I said to you the word elephant, you immedialtly think of an elephant, you dont see the word you see the animal. So off I go and halfway through the course I thought this is great, and I did start to remember things. It went onto to teach you 20 items to tag things you wanted to remember. For instance number one was a tree, because a tree was the symbol of a tree, get the idea, so I was tagging things to a tree in my mind, one time I had so many things hanging off the bloody thing you could not see the leaves, haha!. Anyway then I thought one day what makes you remember to tag items. So I went on forgetting to tag, and the rest is history, great course though, but do need another course to get me to remember to tag, can you see a circle being made here. See you all soon!! probably tagged to a tree hahaha!

Much needed rain I know, always the wrong time though, night time is the best. Still looks good for next week I think, starting a deck on monday, this one is slightly raised, and with the rope handrail and stairs, trellis to face it off, will look great. St Williams Way Rochester. Watch out for the pictures when done. The rope has to be soaked and dried before use. Got two enquiries to see today and another one tomorrow. Going to pick up two Guinea Pigs with the hutch, food and all the trimmings today for Amber my 4 year old granddaughter, its a surprise for her, going with Hayley my daughter to pick them up. Wonder what she will call them. So long as its not pinky and perky!! A little before her time I think. See you all soon!!

Saturday afternoon is for me sometimes quite, like today for instance, doing some quotes which I like. Two enquiries need a price from me for a Driveway each and some decking. Done the graphics for my poster board, very colourful should stand out. Hope so, going to cost enough, I did have some magnetic signs for my vehicle but on the way to the job in Walderslade I lost two of them, they must have flew off into the road, I am of course waiting for a phone call from the person that may pick them up, have only one now and it looks a bit silly on its own. So getting the poster ready. See you all soon!!!

This week coming is going to be great, Decking, yeah I know what again, but I never get tired of building them. Because each one is different, this one is two tiers with a full step, and handrails at the end. The weather looks ok as well, been pretty good for November, well compared to last year when we had all the snow. Bought some fixings to go over the shoes to stop me sliding in the ice and snow, I really hope they stay in the packet. If you are thinking of a garden project give me a call. See you all soon!!
