What a lovely week, weather is perking up, how was your week, good I hope.
We are getting busy, which is good, booked up until at least the middle of next month, possibly further, depends upon how the days pan out.
The site has had over 400, 000 visits now, I am so pleased with it, and it looks like you are too.

We have been booked up now for a while which is good news, work is coming in on a regular basis. Booked until at least the end of the month and into July, patios and decking mainly, after all we do specialize in these products.
We also built pergolas, brick walls, lay artificial lawns, build fences and much more.
Indian Sandstone paving is becoming popular, packs in four sizes and a range of colours and tints. The supplier we use will split the packs, so no need to order an entire full pack for just a few items.

What a lovely day to be in the garden, it might be a great time to decide upon what you would like to have built. Maybe a patio or some decking, a handmade pergola perhaps, that brickwall you have been meaning to create. Artificial lawns are becoming very popular. Give us a call soon!!

Saturday is always busy for me in many ways, shopping, quotes and paperwork. Planning the week ahead also.
The advertising we do is just enough, this site helps me a great deal, with over 90 per cent of the schemes coming from the site.
I am though going to alter it slightly, just the appearance of it, to keep it fresh. Hope you like!

Having a twitter account as well as Facebook, enables me to spread the word about this blog and my website. Its a way of me keeping in touch with friends and friends of friends. Of course its not the only way that I advertise, but its certainly the cheapest, adverts are a little like insurance, you pay for it but not sure if you need the whole set up or not.
I advertise in Thomson local and I use there web solutions as well, so small local diarys, this is to help out local people such as the local community, and thats about it, and of course my website is organically found through the search engines. This blog thats posted on Facebook and Twitter really helps.
I do get work from recommendations which is good, but these days I believe you have to advertise.
Word of mouth is very good but to rely on that alone these times would not be enough.
So look out for my adverts and hope to hear from you.

Another lovely day, Sunday at its best nice and quite and the sun is out. A great day to see the garden and view what needs doing.
We are getting many inquiries now for Patios and Decking, these are the two main products we specialize in.
These are just two areas we have created, the paving is solid granite slabs, and the deck is a high one with steps leading down the garden. Hope to hear from you.

Good evening if you are reading this, with the spring which will be here soon despite the weather at the moment, its about the time to see what you would like done in the garden. Is the fence sound and upright, are there any broken posts, or perhaps its about time to have a whole new fence.

Today went well, got about half way of the pathway paved, then it started to rain, covered it up and left.
Will be set by monday, ready for the next lot to be laid.
I love Friday nights, its the start of the weekend to look forward too. Sold a desk on Ebay £46 was collected last night, so that was good, have got some books I no longer need, so will be selling those soon. Most of them are gardening books, so look out on ebay for them if your interested.

All is going well at the moment, sold an item on Ebay and got an inquiry so all is good. Home today, snow is the culprit, too cold for laying slabs, will see how tomorrow pans out, we are expecting a little more, but need the temperature to raise a little, hopefully mid week might be fine. Hope you day is going ok, mine is paperwork, rather be out but needs must. Work is coming slow but sure. Despite some, Rutland slabs are still being ask for, they do look different when wet though, it brings the colour out, as in all brochures and pictures, the colour may not look the same in real life, but Rutland still the same. Another slab we use on a regular basis is York riven not quite so versatile as Rutland this type is in one size, Rutland is in 6 different sizes, York riven (Yorkies) are a low cost slab, they are great for patios and other general designs, a line of block pavors will break up the lines. Looks very pleasing, Rutland on the other hand because of the 6 sizes random patterns are created to suit the surroundings. Give us a call today, See you all soon!! |

Another weekend over and looking forward to getting the job done, going to be a busy week, appointments coming along, still the weather looks like its going to hold. How has you weekend gone, quick like mine I guess, we are booking now the middle to end of March so if have requirements let me know. Spring is nearly upon us, its already warming up a little, but still time for the odd cold spot to arrive. Back to the old routine today, been shopping as usual. Done a quote for a scheme in rochester, the one I posted about repeat business, so thats all done and sent off by email to the customer. Had another enquiry today so thats 4 to see now, three tomorrow and one on wednesday. Looking good. Owing to popular demand over the years, I have a second business to the main Medway Bespoke, that is the small jobs, say a deck or patio up to 3m square, the type of work that one man can do without staying too long. I have simply called it Peters Patios and Decking not the most outstanding name I know but bespoke still the same, smaller things look good when designed and can make a small plot look bigger somehow. Spent some time at home today, paperwork and planning for the months ahead, had an enquiry from strood went to see that, so have one quote to do. Planning ahead is good for me because I like to know what the future holds, the crystal ball has worn out so resulting to a plainer method, pen and paper. Writing down what I need to do as regards advertising, almost done that, revamped the website, done that, so apart from walking up the high street with a sandwich board I guess I have finished. Need some small items to add to the tool box, stapler and trowels, so a trip to DIY should help on that score. We did around 28 jobs last year so aiming for that at least, maybe more depends upon the size of them. Already have 4 so far. It would be nice to get to 36 jobs this year, but as said depends upon the size, I like the 1 to 2 week schemes because it helps the cash flow a little, so the more jobs the better. Patios and Decking are still going to dominate the work load I guess, and thats fine, like doing those schemes anyhow. So adverts done and hope to get the phone ringing like it did today. Just received through the door the local edition of that well know colour pages directory, I have put it straight in the recycle bag, I remember when it used to be a useful door stop, the thickness of it now would not do the job, I must look on-line to see if I can a door stop.
On-line is far the best option nowadays, paper adverts just don't do it for me. With so much technology its a wonder they still publish it.

We use only the best materials available, as in all our quotations, also we try to get them locally as well as we feel its best in case of returns.
Buying online is a option we have used, but local is the best for us.
We have built up a list of suppliers that when asked delivery the goods.
This is why our pricing structure is good and sound, this is why we get work coming in also with repeat business, and this is why we have built our reputation up since 1995.

Got started on the Lordswood scheme today, all going well and then the heavens opened, still it was about 3.30 so not too bad. Got the mini digger coming tomorrow, and a small dumper for Neil, should be good, got some soil and rubble to shift.
There is quite an amount of brick laying to do on this one, and with the twin decks it will all come together in the end.
Having some professional pictures being taken tomorrow, so that's good. As said before its a stage shoot, so a weekly visit to take the shots and then I can make a stage slide show on the site.
Also watch out for my video, made by Thomson Local, it runs for about 30 seconds and will go live on the 28th of November, this month, from what I have seen so far its a good advert. So its all happening on here.

Starting the Lordswood job tomorrow, this is a large scheme, two decks, doors and gates, bricklaying also.
Looking forward to getting the professional pictures done on this one, its a stage shoot, so you can see how we build gardens.

Morning all Sunday morning, how many of you are in the garden this weekend, I bet there are quite a few of you, as the weather has not been too bad recently for the time of year. I am hoping to get some professional pictures done soon, its a large job in Lordswood and the shots will be taken as we progress the work, then going to make a little slide show of the tasks, which will give you an idea of how we work.
Look us up sometime in December and onwards for the show.
The job is Bricklaying, decking, and a rope handrail, so should be good.

Just seen the local news about a man nearby, he answered the door to some people who were cold calling, they took £80 off him to do some work in his garden.
Needless to say he never saw them again, but they did do some work, in fact they cut down the mans favourite apple tree.
As they said on the news, just say no to cold callers. If gardeners and landscapers are any good at what they say they can do, then they should have to do this type of thing.
Get a company in that has credentials, written quotations, website and have paperwork to back things up.
The man was a senior citizen.

A new week beckons, was cold today could not get warm, no matter what, get days like this.
Paperwork to catch up on, listings to act upon, finally finished the special coming starting in January 2013, it will be like no other I have ever done, and some of my fellow landscapers full time and part time will be surprised that I can pull it off. On this occasion not using local suppliers as I think it might be too much for them, but will be using another source or area.
Keep viewing the special offer page on the website for more details as it starts. The range of products will be limited to two, patios and decking, after all this is what we specialise in. Also it will be only two types of slabs, decking is on the deck boards. But I believe, as said in a previous blogs, helpful to us all in some way.

Morning all what are we up to today, me, well the usual shopping, has to be done. Good week we had, got a fair bit done, weather was fine, laying the base on Monday and the slabs on Tuesday, hope the weather holds.
November is going to be a busy month, a very large scheme coming up soon in Lordswood, another in Cuxton. Couple of small jobs to do also.
Advertising is getting under way, looking at some smaller ways of doing just that, perhaps a new item on the website, which has had 271,000 visits now, and my advert on Facebook is doing rather well.
Looking ahead to 2013 with some degree of optimism, this year has been good but next year will be even better for us all I am sure. And by the way this is my 500th post thanks for following.

We have today finished the special offer listing, just got to make sure of the figures then we go live on the website.
Its on the lines of the BOGOF thingy that the supermarkets do, its only on the slabs and deck boards but as they "every little........... hope it goes well.
The task of doing something like this takes a while to set up, it will start to new quotes and contracts in January 2013, just in time for the spring to have the work done. So give us a call in time.

I think winter is not too far away, pity after a long wet and windy summer, but it was cold this morning in Medway, but we have no control over the weather do we.
We do however have control over our plots of land at the back of our houses, we have built many timber decks, laid so many patios, and erected many fences, all to please you the customer and I hope we have done just that, so far in 2012, but we have to look forward to plans about next year, what should we do to make our gardens ready for next year.

No matter what they say I think Saturday afternoons are the best, always fairly quiet for me, as I dare not sit and watch tv else I fall asleep. Getting old that is my excuse. Either that or a lazy so and so, no quotes to do today but some letters to write and send off.
My cards at Tescos are still there on the saving stamp machine, so look out for them.
Must get in touch with the customer at sidcup as he would like the wall done now the area has been sorted.

Just getting ready for the week ahead, its going to rain on Monday or so they say, got to finish the path and shed area, so I hope it does not rain too much.
Neil was off today he had a wedding in the family, so was on my own still all went ok. Hope Neils day was good too.

Going back to gillingham tomorrow to lay the new path, did the patio a while back this is an extra. Weather looks ok, friday looks wet.
I thought it might a good idea to tell about the company, Medway Bespoke, specialising in the laying of patios and building timber decks.
These are my two favourite products and services, if I had to choose I would say timber is my number one its so versatile in its building, almost any shape can be built. Paving is more attractive in so much as the different lines and shapes, but I like the most is the time when the scheme is almost finished and it starts to take shape, rubbish cleared away and just as you look the area is almost done, that's when I get the satisfaction of seeing the work.

Saturday afternoon nothing like it, time to relax a little, waiting for a customer from Ebay to collect the home cinema system I sold on there, hope they turn up. Been looking at my Facebook page, check it out Medway Bespoke Gardening Landscaping I think its a great page, but then I would say that wouldn't I, do have a look and "like it" if you do.
Meanwhile back at the range, the week has gone OK weather has been a bit sour some days, but we got the work done so all good.
Got some presents for my Granddaughter Amber who is a big 5 on the 29th October, how time flies, hope she likes them.

Well started the Sittingbourne job, got the delivery around 10.30 to 11am and got the materials through the house as arranged, before then we took down the old fence, some of the posts had those blessed Metal spikes that you can buy. To say the least they are useless never use them, they not only work loose over time, which makes either a new post or a spur post to be inserted, but they one of the most awkward things to get out of the ground. So if you have a fencing company and they want to use them, then I would suggest you say no to them, we only and will always cement our post straight in to the ground, very stable and will not move.

Well a friend told me to have a look at someone's work, he was saying that there are quite a few jobs done, well I did see lots of pictures I agree but, there were quite a few of the same job which made up the numbers. Nothing spectacular either, just your average work.
Be careful who you get, as said before a lady in sheerness was taken for a complete ride, ending up ringing us to come and sort it out.
Next time you are in the market for your garden to be landscaped then give us a call, as so many people have done since 1995, we give a great all week service, not just part time but a full landscaping service Monday to Friday.

What a lovely day for getting out in the garden, on your new deck or patio, no, oh well give us a call.
We deal only in the best, we try our utmost to gain everything you need to create your garden.
Looking ahead for the rest of this year and into next, I know time flies, but now is a great time to get things moving, the plants are gradually dying back so less to dig up if needed, the ground is softer and easier to plough through.
Decking has become a great product of ours, with its versatility and warmth, its blends in with any surroundings. I expect you have heard this before, but it is a great platform for children to play on, safe and secure.
With a little imagination it can be whatever colour you want, cant say about about paving, although paving does have its place in the garden, nothing compares to the way decking blends in.
About once a year all it needs is a bit of TLC perhaps with just a clean or a new coat of stain or vanish. All the timbers are pressurised. Like some other companies, and I know this with first hand knowledge, we do not use nails to build our decks. See the blog regarding sheerness to read what nailing can do to a deck. We only, and will always use screws to fix every piece to build you a deck that will last. Hope to hear fromn you soon, for your next project.

Today was good, my other half Joanne has a bad cold but, so getting the tablets down OK. Done the shopping at Tescos, my cards on the savings stamp machine seem to be going OK, they get replenished every two weeks by the company so that's good. Remember to pick one up next time you shop there, its the superstore on Hoath way near Dobbies.

A well designed pattern when laying a patio can make a huge difference between it looking good and looking OK, too may slabs can give the impression of crazy paving, and just one size, although fine, can be a little, well boring to look.
The Oakham Pattern using just two slabs is a good creation and designed extremely well. It comes in a pack which covers 7.2 sq m, but you can join these patterns together by simply turning two slabs in a different direction, so in fact any size can be laid using this design.
The slabs are Rutland, they are superb, give the effect of York stone, wavy edges, riven face and very strong. The main colours we use are Mellow Stone and Autumn Gold, subtle differences in the shade when blended together create a pleasing and warm effect.
We have used these slabs many times and our customers have loved the tone and design they deliver in their gardens. So ask for this by name The Oakham Pattern next time you are looking to have a patio done, give us a call now.

Going to view a job in Lordswood today, saw two jobs yesterday so hopefull for all three. Waiting to hear from the Isle of Grain quote soon.
Have to get a new mitre saw as the old one gave up the other day, still have had it for about 6 years so done its job well.
The Tesco cards are doing well, have had three enquiries from them. Looking good at the moment.

Finished the bespoke pergola in Shorne see the new page on the site, its the picture with the chairs, all hand made and screwed into place. Customer is very pleased with it, and the whole structure is very stable. Bracing is a must for the stability of pergolas.
We done the whole garden early this year so it was good to be back there once more. Visit my new page and see what we can do for you.

Aww another bank holiday, the problem is when you are self employed you dont get paid, still my choice and its nice to have a day off once in a while. Hope you are all enjoying your gardens what ever the weather.
In a previous blog I said about a special offer coming up in the autumn, I am working on the best way of creating it without it sounding too "tacky" if you now what I mean. Its on the lines of the buy one get one free system, but I need to set things up perfectly for everyone concerned. Keep an eye.
Meanwhile whatever the weather keep us in mind for next project.
